I had exactly the same problem a few days ago with an MSI PCI wireless
card. It wasn't detected by even the BIOS, and booting after powerup was
inconsistent whilst the card was installed (even though the PC worked fine
if it did boot successfully)

The reason? It's likely that the card requires a PCI 2.2 motherboard, and
yours is only PCI 2.1...
