My only real requirement is that any device MUST have an external antenna
jack (any sort, pigtails can be purchased).

I envisage owning:
* one PCMCIA card to go in a laptop
* one access point, but am willing to sacrifice the access point for a PCI
card.  PCMCIA card in adapter is annoying but acceptable (too costly).
