[MLB-WIRELESS] GPS and GSM transciever

Well, it looks like transcom is going to be no help in regards to the
VTS3000X, they seem to want about $750 for software to even program
the thing, and mention that it will only work with their gateway
package known as the NC3000. They also mention that the onboard
software is proprietary and can not be easily modified (anyone want to
try hacking this?)
They also offered to buy back the unit for $50, which in my opinion is
a bit of a take, even though the dealsdirect package came with another
gps unit anyway...
As far as I can see, these units have an H8S/2633 CPU with M29W800AB
block of flash memory, maybe someone can attach some traces between
the two and get the firmware binary out of it with a logic analyser
(Im just guessing here, but if anyone has the equipment...)
Another option might be for the software package to be purchased by a
single group and then used to reprogram units... This might cause some
licensing issues, so somehow each person might need to sign up as a
member and be part of a "fleet" as such... still, $750 is a bit steep!
As with my previous email, it does seem possible to mess with the
debug com port, so if any useful commands can be learnt from it, it
may be possible to get it to do things without MCGView.
