A few people asked about the Proxim Ap I had at the monthly meeting.
I brought it in the US from http://www.centrix-intl.com
go to networking and scroll down to proxim 802.11a
I go the 5 pack and had it shipped to a friend in Texas and he reduced the
packing (it was a big box, 30lbs mostly packing) and I carried them back
on a recent trip. Customs were Ok, - I declared them the carry back limit is
now $900 and I was well inside that.
5-Piece Pack) Brown Boxed Proxim Harmony Access Point 802.11a, 8450CN / AKA
8570 8571-05, 54 Mbps only, Non-overlapping channels 5.15 GHz - 5.25 GHz,
Channel 34,38,42,46. Works as stand alone or with AP Harmony Controller.
The 8450CN was made for the Japanese market, the other channels do not
unlock and it doesn't have detachable antennas. but hey, for $10 US each ...
The $15.99 version is listed as 8570 may or may not have detachable
antennas, it depends if they are really 8570 or are 8571.
The 8570 supports Channels 36, 40 , 44, 48, 52, 56 & 64 and in 2X mode:
Channels 42, 50 & 58
The 8571 supports Channels 56, 60 & 64 and in 2X mode: Channel 58 but has
SMA connectors.
