they don't work in other countries, why would they work here?

it should be split into "infrastructure" and "value-added services", with the
former being kept 100% in public hands, and the latter privatised. if telstra
wants to be a private corp then it can compete on a level playing field with
every other telco.

telecommunications infrastructure should be run by a single national entity,
not hundreds or thousands of weirdo incompatible local networks.
