[MLB-WIRELESS] ...the morning after.

Howdy All...

Just a thought on the earthing of poles and equipment, you really dont want
to earth your equipment if your not the heighest point in the area, it may
in fact be a very very bad thing as your providing a good path to ground,
and if lightning is in your area rather than going for a moist tree, it will
go for your equipment... and simply unplugging it wont stop 100,000 -
1,000,000 V's jumping a air gap onto the next good earth in your rack/pc...

If your going to earth, do it properly, 8mm earth is the minimum, but what
you really want is a properly setup earthing grid and flat 2mm copper strip
to conduct and a gas arrestor on the coax...

There is a lot of australian standards of earthing for electrical and
telecommunications, visit standards.com.au and have a look see (must be in
pdf somewhere!)

Just a thought, and sorry to hear of your bad weather... it was another
lovely tropical Brisbane day here...

Mark A
