Correct. ACA allows only indoor use for 802.11a.

I would be surprised if you can find any 56mb wireless with external
antenna connectors... as far as I know it isn't permitted for out-door
use!

I was reading my December's APC mag and found an advert from DLink about
their new wireless products. They are dual band, ie: support 802.11b and
802.11a. They run at 11Mbps, 22Mbps, 56Mbps and 72Mbps. I have had a
look at
DLinks website and found they don't have external antenna sockets.
The product ranges includes a PC card, PCMCIA card and an AP
