Ey,
If anyone is interested in an unobtrusive, console-based wlan stumbler,
I'd recommend Wardrive
(http://packetstormsecurity.nl/groups/thc/wardrive-2.3.tar.gz). You can
run it on a closed notebook inside a backpack and it will beep with
excitement if it finds an AP that passes a set of filters. It also
supports GPS. Combine it with a neat little logging script and it's an
excellent resource.
