Hi All,

I'm a brand new subscriber to the list, so please bear with me.

Here's what I'm thinking, I would greatly appreciate any feedback:

			Net
 			 |
			DSL Modem
			 |
	DLINK DI-713P Router/Wireless AP
	| | |
| |
W2k machine W2K machine WinME Printer
WIN XP Pro Laptop
Dual Athlon Duron 750 Ancient Hardwired
Wireless (PCMCIA)
Hardwired Hardwired Thinkpad To Router/
con. To Router/AP
to router to router Hardwired Print server
						to router

This setup is meant for local only access at the moment.
Win XP laptop comes on the road with me and will be connecting to
various wireless networks.

Q1. If at a later date I want to hook up to a local wireless community
in the Sydney metro area, will the DI-713P do the job well, is it
socketed for an external antenna?

Q2. What PCMCIA card should I be getting for the Win XP laptop? Keep in
mind that I may one day get adventurous and go wardriving in my car as
an experiment. So, (I believe) chipset and external antenna connectivity
is a concern). I cannot solder to save my life. Oh yeah, I do not really
want to spend major $$ on this card, realistically if possible I would
like to spend $350 at most on the PCMCIA card.

Feel free to flame/educate me.

TIA.

Cheers,

Judd Howie
