Ideally, when the node density is sufficiently high, the mesh hops will be 
short enough that a moderate gain omni can be used without an amp.  The 
lower you can keep your power, the lower the overall noise floor will be, 
and the more of the spectrum resource is available for everyone (both 
hobbyist and commercial).
