* Driver detects and selects the most recent secondary firmware in
either
the PC Card or the Windows driver. The firmware download mechanism only
takes place when the firmware in the driver is more recent than the
firmware
in the FlashROM on the card. The WorkStation Upgrade (WSU) utility is no
longer needed or provided.

You'll still need to update your firmware for Linux, though.

I also believe that the 7.44 client may work with the 8.10 firmware -

to give that a shot.
