[MLB-WIRELESS] Free World Dialup moves to $30 registration

Years ago I was crawling the MW wiki and can across a list of FWD users: 
http://www.melbournewireless.org.au/wiki/?FWDnumbers

It seems the list has at least doubled since then so I wonder, what does 
everybody think about the move to paid-for registrations?

I was an FWD user for a while, but without anybody to talk to it was 
just another account to prune when I get into a paranoid fit about 
privacy and spam.

I was still on the mailing list (until today) and it feels like for the 
last 3 years FWD has been flailing around trying to find a way to 
commercialise or find funding.

-Why did everybody choose FWD?
-Will you remain and pay the fee?
