I'd like to see everyone running 200W EIRP and see how low the potential for
interference really is... ;)

Hi,

I had a chat with the ACA. It seems that the more complete answer
is, 1 W...for now....see below

---------- from the ACA ---------
The EIRP Limit for 5.8GHz spread spectrum devices is currently 1.0
Watts EIRP as stated in the AS/NZS4771:2000 and the
Radiocommunications Class Licence(Spread Spectrum Devices) 2002.
However there are several amendments currently under way at the
moment to vary some of these limits to keep them in step with
overseas trends ie FCC etc.

A lot of the things currently in the spread spectrum standard
AS/NZS4771 and its associated class licence are in the process of
being transferred over into the LIPD (Low Interference Potential
Devices) class licence and standard AS/NZS 4268:2003.

In these documents you will see that the power at 5.8GHz is stated at
4 watts EIRP, greater powers up to 200W EIRP have been mentioned in
these bands to assist the role out of broadband internet by ISP's in
rural areas however these will be licensed services.

I hope this clarifies things for you as things are in a state of flux
at present, once all amendments are passed overlapping and outdated
documents will be revoked.
