[MLB-WIRELESS] WL210 in XP

I have an old Compaq WL210 PCI wireless adapter here; I recall that there
could be issues getting them to work in XP, but not what they were or how to
fix them; I did have it working in Linux... it uses the Cirrus Logic
PCI-PCCard bridge chip, which does show up in device manager, but the PC
can't seem to see beyond the bridge..... downloaded the latest drivers from
compaq (HP!) website, but not getting very far... I *know* I remember a
patch for this.... can anyone help??
p.s. suggestions to not use XP not appreciated ;-p

Part 2:
I was hoping to use this in ad-hoc mode with a wireless laptop I just got;
is there any decent free stuff on windows to add WPA, mac filtering, etc or
should I just give up and go buy an access point? :-)
I've got my LAN all on 1 switch, connected to my ADSL at the moment, so I
don't want any wireless interlopers snooping around ;-)
thanks,
Michael
