Somone could be using that private IP address on their own network, and
it just happens that another unrelated name (the wireless one) resolves
to that IP address.

But that brings up another issue.  If you are using public DNS servers
for private IP addresses, how do you manage the reverse mapping?  Who
runs the DNS servers for 10.in-addr.arpa, for example?
