sounds to me like the consensus is for internet resolvable names, and IMHO
we should use cw.net.au, or your own private domain names if you've got
them.

My Intranet actually spans a couple of sites (around 8 PCs total), and DNS
is needed for Active Directory (which I have been running internally for
around 6 months), so I can't do without it. :-P

AD won't work on hosts files at all.
