Well, that was my concern, as it has shades of CB mods of the 70's and 
80's, where you could tweak up the power, but the signal became extremely 
"dirty".

This should be good enough evidence to not support power tweaks, unless one 
has access to a spectrum analyser, to ensure it's clean. :)
