Time to live timers? well. there we go. Maybe your OS sets it to 1 by
default (I wouldn't be surprised if Theo did this to OpenBSD ;)). Some OS's
work if the packet it recieves has the TTL on 0, don't recall which off the
top of my head.

Maybe if you try a couple of more terms together it will work?

Unless you've running a wierd OS, or have heavily tuned your IP parameters
(I once got a linux box to look like a solaris box to nmap by fiddling
with /proc enteries), I doubt its a problem with your OS's TCP
implementation.
