I've made 4 of the darn things so far (the "proper" aluminium extrusion
version) - The last (quickest one) one took around 3 1/2 hours to make,
with the milling machine all set up and the template for marking the
slots at the ready. The first one took around 6 hours..... I can't see
any way (other than mass-producing them with an NC controlled machine)
to make it worth anyone's while. Apart from cutting the slots, there is
edge deburring, drilling, thread tapping, emitter turning, assembling,
sealing ends and slots to do (included in the time mentioned above) -
all in all pretty labour intensive!
I guess now that I'm set up and know what to expect I could make a few
for around $400 each..... See what I mean?

Cheers,
Joe
