Finland, the home of Nokia and everyone has a mobile phone but no one would
lend you one? How did their switchboard work? A few chicks with many mobiles
and headsets? ;)

In Finland, land lines are the exception rather than the rule,
for everybody. It's a real bugger for a visitor that doesn't
have a mobile phone.  A few years ago I was visiting a company with a
workforce of 500 and I couldn't make or receive any phone calls.
They had only two land lines in the building, both behind
locked doors.
