[MLB-WIRELESS] Tools for Dlink 900AP owners

Actually, I noticed that this thing gets a bit hot underneath, is this a
problem if I want to run it 24 x 7?

I popped the cover off (as you do) to have a look and noticed that there was
a plate soldered to the bottom of the board. Some kind of RF shield and heat
sink? Maybe I should try and overclock it and put some heat paste and a
copper heat spreader in it, maybe a cooling fan..... ok, only kidding ;)

And it has two antenna? Why and what are they used for?

Regards,
Gaz.

  Hey Darren,

Thanks for the info, this is just what I needed. Too hot outside so I
thought I'd hack the new AP :)

I think I've done something bad though.... :(

  Regards,
  Gaz.

For those who have some of these as I do, here are some links that may
be of interest.

Firstly, you can get the 1.4j1 firmware from this page.
    http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/Wap11Hack
Also the atmel snmp config utility which will allow you to adjust the
output power. (see instructions on that page)

Also, the linksys wap11 USB config allows for individual tx and rx
diversity setting which is handy if you intend to mast mount one of these
babies!
    ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wap11sw.exe
These are much nicer config tools to use than the dlink versions!

FYI, the RP-SMA is attached to the 'Left' output.
