Stealth access points (was Re: [MLB-WIRELESS] Approaching parties)

I've always dreamed about a radio controlled helicopter combined
with a 'limpet' access point.

Limpet mines are magnetic mines placed directly on the hulls
of ships, sometimes by a diver.

A similar principle applies here. Put a nice strong magnet on a self
contained access point (rare earth magnets are available from Jaycar).
Use some sort of hovering platform (only needs to have a flight time
of a couple of minutes) to get the access point near enough
to an elevated steel object that it sticks. Bingo. One high up access
point. Gotta get the system right first time though because it's awfully
hard to retrieve it for maintenance.

Choose an inaccessible enough point and the owner of the object probably
won't even know it is there. Even if they do, they probably won't
be able to get near it to get it off.

Best wishes
John
