[MLB-WIRELESS] Dlink DWL-1000AP (negative review and FS!)

Folks,

I've just bought one of these and am playing at the moment.  My first
impression is that it is the most limited AP I have ever come across.  The
main features I'm used to is some kind of statistics/status information
(there is _nothing_, nada, zip).

If you have got one, go to the dlink US web site (Australian one has old
stuff) and download the stuff there - you'll at least get 64/128 bit WEP and
better security.  The unit is a rebadged nowiresneeded 1148 unit
(http://www.nwn.com/csb/nwnproducts.html) although the software on this page
seems not to find it probably because it has been badged as a dlink.

I was hoping to turn this unit into an AP client, but it is too dumb for
that too.  Honestly I would recommend people pay the extra $60 for an
900AP+.

So having said all this, I've decided that I can't do what I want with it
and I'm going to take it back.  After this lack of recommendation, I doubt
anyone will want one, but anyone wants to give me what I paid for it ($199)
let me know in the next 24hrs, otherwise it's going back to DSE for my
"Change of mind refund" :-)  If you're in a reasonable suburb I can probably
drop it by.
