Ah! now that would be telling... :-)

(Seriously I cannot give any details other than it has the following 
requirements: Display, computing power for software, GPS, modem and 
RX/TX for VHF.)
I have no preference for what platform to deveolp on because it is a 
prototype.  Likely the final hardware will be smaller and function 
specific, probably a custom board.  Even if it is a bunch of devices 
hanging off a laptop that might be enough...

The parts I am particularly missing are the VHF transmitter/reciever and 
the VHF modem.  The rest of it I have too many choices (mostly expensive 
actually) and need to leaverage peoples experiences deveolping in those 
areas.
