Hi all,
I have a project at work that involves prototyping some hardware.
I would like to make my life simple.

The project involves a CPU and memory of some kind to house the smarts,
a display to show the out put (LCD pixel grid - it will display a simple
map - can be b&w if sufficient resolution - 1/4 VGA should do), GPS
capability and a modem to an RF antenna (VHF, single frequency band).
Note: these do not have to be seperate units, bundled parts already
working are considered good(TM) as I then need to do less work.

what I would like is advice on the sorts of hardware development
kits/devices/hardware/suppliers/advice or examples on the web of people
who have done this/contact details of people who have done this sort of
thing.

basically I desperately need to narrow my choices!

Now I don't need a whole solution... after all I have to do some work
myself... :-)
