Allright, you asked for it.

You wouldn't shut up about perl. You kept demanding the C port. We
kept telling you "patches welcome", but you wouldn't listen.

And so, we (or, I guess, I) bring you:

Cheshire v0.01: The amazing Open mode portal, in 64k, written entirely
in shell, sed, and awk. (Actually, it needs a 6k helper app from
NetPipes too, but oh well. Why inetd doesn't propagate the socket peer
in the environment is beyond me...)

It seems to work after slapping it together in two evenings, but needs
thorough testing and a good security overhaul. But it does prove a
point: you can now fit Open mode onto a tiny (say, 8MB) distribution
without trying to cram in Perl.

If there's any interest in actually developing this thing, post to the
list, and we'll see what we can make out of it. Functionally, it seems
to work just fine, and even has a NoCat compatible configuration file.
I think that with a bit of work it could be made into something real,
and could even support Passive mode, if anybody cares...

Cheers,

--Rob
