I'm been having talks with Enterasys lately regarding the issue of hardware
availability and problems with bulk buys. Now I know 99% of these problems
do not come from the organisers of the bulk buys, but are more from the
suppliers..

Through the talks with Enterasys, we are looking at obtaining a substantial
discount on their entire product range - which includes Access Points, PCI
and ISA cradles, WiFi cards (both 802.11a & .11b).

These products will also carry support and warranty from Enterasys as if the
cards were purchased directly from any of their resellers. The orders we
place will be final, and would not have any possibility of falling through.
We would also act as an agent in warranty replacements or repair although
normal conditions would apply (ie we can't return an AP you destroyed
putting an different antenna on :)

I'm speaking specifically about the PCMCIA cards at the moment, but what you
members feel is a reasonable price for the RoamAbout series of cards (yes,
the same as the current $60 cards)... Now one thing Enterasys has informed
me, is that they will not be able to match the current $50 - $60 going rate.
The reason the current bulk buys are so cheap is that Skynet Global who
bought the cards went under, and the cards are essentially part of their
liquidated assets.

Now while this may be good for a number of us, this also means that if your
$60 card is a lemon, then that's pretty much your bad luck... When dealing
directly with Enterasys however, your normal warranty period would apply.

Comments? Suggestions?
