Hi Rick,

 ISA means Industry Standard Architecture

 EISA means Extended Industry Standard Architecture. It provided more
 data and address lines to the card to increase throughput, among other
things.

 EISA slots will take ISA or EISA cards, but ISA will not take EISA cards.

 EISA was everyone elses answer to the (then) new IBM microchannel. It did
not take off.

 Stay away from EISA if you can, it's 486 timeframe!
