Howdy,

8.10 secondary firmware was what I was after. That's fine, your card will
support IBSS. Drivers are also up to date so that rules out that
possibility.

I did have a problem on Windows XP last night as a matter of fact - was
trying to get the card to work on an IBSS peer-to-peer network and then the
card stopped responding and system started hanging every five seconds till I
disabled and re-enabled the card. I wasn't using WEP. Netstumbler came up
with some sort of address error in the status bar and it still wouldn''t
respond - a reboot fixed it.

Try unchecking the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings"in
the 'wireless networks' tab under the wireless network card properties in
Network Connections and then fiddle around with the client manager. The
client manager may still come up and whine about Windows XP though. At
least it does on mine, driver 7.14 which was included with XP as far as I
can tell (Dell TrueMobile rebadged Orinoco). Might try getting real orinoco
beef on that card and see how I go.
