[MLB-WIRELESS] FreeBSD Ports Help

I have a question for someone out there with regards to ported apps to FreeBSD.  I am trying to install samba on my machine and while I have the software installed I am yet to find the instructions on how to set it up and what has to go in the Kernel etc.  If someone could please tell me where to find the instructions for ported apps that would be greatly appreciated.
