I wouldn't imagine all access point are going to be open to anyone to
connect without anyone knowing about them.
Personally my AP won't be open for just anyone driving by my house to
connect to.
I will share the key with everyone who wants to connect.  I would hope those
people didn't go posting the key everywhere, if someone else wants to
connect they can simply contact me for the key.
Just so I can keep track of how many people I've got connecting and of
course to screen out undesirables like Corporate Spies and persons just
looking to cause havoc ;)
