AUSTRALIAN WIRELESS ASSOCIATION INCORPORATES

Sydney Australia, Friday the 16th of August

This week, the Australian Wireless Association, an Australian community
based wireless networking group started in Sydney, is proud to announce
its incorporation.

The association aims to assist in the development and deployment of
Community Wireless Networks around Australia. They are working to
educate members on responsible use of Wireless Technology and to help
set and promote standards for the use of the technology.

President Mark Di Cristo today stated "Our incorporation marks a
milestone for Community Wireless Networks within Australia".

The association has already begun building a network by creating an
802.11b based test network in areas of Sydney to gauge how far the
802.11b technology can be pushed.

They are currently communicating with persons interested in Community
Wireless Networking around Australia, including those in a number of
regional areas, and helping to bring people together to benefit from the
technology.

The association is not aiming to replace carrier class services or to
become a service provider, but to simply put a widely available
technology to good use by utilizing it to support communities.
