Hi,

I just received this post on another list - it describes a hardware
LAN server with 8 PCMCIA slots for sale in the US. Thought it might
be handy for someone here..... course I have no idea if it supports
WiFi cards or not. Enquire with seller.

Clae.

Hello fellow Swappers!

While digging around, I found this neat little device which was one of two
given to me by a former Digi support employee some time ago. However, I
don't have need for it so I am putting it up here for possible sale or swap.
I have NEVER seen one of these on eBay, or anywhere else for that matter, so
if you could use this it's probably a good idea to jump on it now!

This DIGI LANASERVER 10E has 8 PCMCIA slots for any standard CardBus modems
and 2 DB9 serial ports for external modems (total 10 ports).Ethernet ports
(10baseT, 10base2 and AUI) allow for dial-in users to access to your network
from remote locations as well as allowing dial-out access for network
clients.

System supports TCP/IP and IPX networks, and PPP dial-ins as well as
terminal-style prompt access. Security features include username
authentication and callback for network access, and a front panel lock for
local access to controls.

The system can be rack mounted, and includes configuration software for
Windows (don't have the Mac version; I just ran it on VirtualPC to test it)
and the administration manual.

Worked just fine the last time it was run with a Hayes external modem and a
TDK 28.8 card modem. Note that any combination of ports can be used; you
don't have to fill the ports to run it.

The following addys are pictures from the manual. They depict a Server 8e,
which from the front looks exactly the same as a 10e.

Will accept offers 'til Friday, or will definately consider swapping for a
Newton or Newtons in good working order (nothing pre-130, unless by chance
you have more than one and they're 120's). I prefer Paypal but will take a
money order. Shipping will be via USPS from 55051.

Guarenteed to power up on delivery ('non-DOA'). If it's truly dead when it
gets to you, ship it back to me and I'll give you a refund less shipping.

Questions? Offers? Mail me at lonepine2 at ncis.com
