From the book of "better late than never" here's my feedback using
3.11.2 on both dom0 and domU using xen-blkfront.max=128 in domU:
1. Disk throughput has improved from ~135MB/s to ~155MB/s running
"dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/960M bs=64M count=15 oflag=dsync"
2. The time spent by CPU in iowait state dropped from ~15.7% to ~7%

The box is a Dell Poweredge 1950 with a Perc 6/i adapter with 4
SEAGATE ST9300603SS configured as RAID 10. It's a relatively busy
MySQL database server with ~260 InnoDB inserts per second and
query cache disabled.
