The problem is some people will abuse it.  I used to use open APs for
checking email, IRC and the occasionally google search on the fly.  Now,
I've got 3G mobile and those fit under my free cap when I'm in town...  But
open APs are still a nice standby option, especially in rural areas where I
can avoid being slugged roaming fees... ;)
