Hello to all on the Melbourne Wireless mailing list. I am Peter Mason and I'm sending this email to this list to ask you all to consider being a research participant. 

I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, as part of first year sociology students are required to research and area of their choice, and I couldn't help but think of this local network when choosing a topic.

This is just a small study, nothing high powered but none the less important for me. I have already secured permission from the committee and all I need to get underway is willing participants.

Data collection will be done through small surveys(multiple choice and a small section for notes) and I will send these out by mail (since I'm not that cheap I will also send with a reply envelope). This is the point where you might get scared off, but I assure everyone not to worry since I have an ethical obligation not to abuse privileged information. Besides, if I did do something wrong by any of you, it is welcomed that you take it up with the university (I will attach contact information for my lecturer and tutor with the survey). Also what will come with survey will be a small legal document that ensures the security of the participants and the university. It sounds suspect, but it is really there so none of us gets burnt. It's all done in good will.

I must ask that those of you who feel like helping me in my study must reply soon. It's that time of year again and things are piling up and time is becoming a rare commodity.
