I made a couple of phone calls today. One to the grants guy at Yarra City council (not for money, just for info). The other to (eventually) a guy at a place called infoxchange who do community stuff recycling old pcs and providing net access and other things to community groups. Apart from being a little bit like a company (think they were set up by trades hall), they sound like they have an interesting idea. Anyway, the guy I spoke to wouldn't mind meeting up with some of us to see if there's somewhere our interests converge. I might suggest he come along, or send some people along to the next meet. I wasn't really looking into meetings or anything like this, just looking for someone who would know who I'd need to talk to to get access to the Yarra City council buildings for AP's. Access to the buildings is looking like it's going to be a serious pain to organise, but possibly still worthwhile..
