With regards to a backbone are there really any AP's anywhere
yet that could be linked together?

I'm looking into possibilities out my direction and I've
worked out roughly where good locations for AP's could be so that we could all
link. These would be in Rowville, Wheelers Hill, Vermont, Glen Waverley
and possibly Ferntree Gully.

I'm going to get hold of an old Melways so I can start marking
in peoples locations and pay a few visits to check out LOS.

My 20c worth here.

I have noted on Ebay that there are quite a few Orinoco AP
1000 and the
outdoor model going very
reasonably. I know that they do not have any cards
in them, but the do have 2 PC slots to take the Gold and Silver cards
(or
any other as I understand).

I think that these would be very useful for providing a back
bone (may be
connection limits). They would also
provide a solid platform for upgrading
when 'The Price
is Right' for emerging technology.

May be this might be a good place to start.

So after the BBQ has there been any decisions made with regard
to :

1) Forming a constitution (something would have allayed last
weeks
discussion about internet access)
2)Plan for a back bone (based on current node map)
3)Roll out schedule.
4) A financial
commitment from users.
