Message-ID: Melbourne Wireless REBOOT! *Wednesday 16th October 2024.* 7pm - 9pm @ Connected Community Hacker Space (CCHS / Melbourne HackerSpace / HackMelbourne), 5 Kent Lane, Hawthorn VIC 3122 . Melbourne Wireless first got together in December 2001, and quickly grew as a buzzing social gathering of tech heads who worked together to build an amazing wireless network that at its peak connected Melbourne to far off places including Geelong, Bendigo, Warragul, Lorne, Woori Yallock, and even Adelaide. The network boasted speeds far beyond commercial offerings, especially for those that were left on the wrong side of the digital divide when older technologies such as DSL were not available to all households and businesses. Since the arrival of the National Broadband Network, the need for community broadband has certainly declined? but we?re not dead yet! Come along and be a part of something very special - rebooting Melbourne Wireless in the age of the NBN! https://www.facebook.com/events/865427439031342 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm in Bendigo these days, so won't be able to attend in person meetings, but interested in following this reboot and seeing where things go, and if I can contribute in some way.
