Hello All,
In the interests of the continued ability of the club to fund the
building of resources, infrastructure
and connectivity points. The annual membership rates for the club was
raised for discussion
at the annual general meeting.
The outcome of this discussion which was voted on by members and passed,
was that the membership needs
to be at a realistic level as to fund the purchase of equipment for the
benefit of members.
The decided rates are as follows.
As from May 15th 2009 the annual membership for Melbourne Wireless will
be
Normal Member $50 per annum
Student / Pensioner Member $25 per annum
(A health care card must be produced to attain this discount rate)
Payments prior to this date will still be honored at the 20$ rate
Club Sponsorship is also about to be reviewed by the committee
with more formalised options worked out soon.
(contact the committee if you can sponsor the club !)
So what's coming from previous funds:
More bandwidth around the network with upgrades to the backbone done and
continuing.
More Content , with a link to Melb PC's content archives coming online
very soon.
More Access , A cross link to Adelaide wireless should become active
this year.
Should you have ideas of what you would like to see on the network ,
feel free to contribute and discuss.
What's happening on the network build now ?
A new wind powered node to cover the previously in-accessible Hampton
park to Berwick region and beyond
should be online within 2 months. - The mountings for the turbine are
going in this weekend.
And many other link points are coming online this year including
Chadston Shopping Centre and
Arthurs Seat, but I'll keep it brief for now with more announcements
when things happen.
Please contact the treasurer for your membership queries
Kind Regards
Peter Buncle
