Hi Peter,Tyson & Everyone,

Thanks Tyson,

A quick GHO update,

GHO (Our Major Mt Dandenong node) has been going through changes as part

of our continued development of the network.

As part of this i've been doing some performance optimisation, thus the
channels
have changed and the perfomance has improved dramatically.

Our general ongoing plan for the GHO site is;

Keep the 2.4 Ghz ap's for general uplinks for people who have no other
option.

Move primary links to point to point connections, preferably on 5Ghz
where possible.

These changes have already started happening and as a result we now have

a fast link going south at 18Mbs + and a point to point 2.4ghz link to
the new major node
JLP Heidleberg - soon to move to 5ghz once antennas are procured.

There is also now a Dallas one wire weather station active at GHO
(running off a wl500g) that can be viewed online at;

http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IVICMTD
A2

Just so you can see how big the weather extreams get up there !

Regarding the new Major Node JLP, I'd like to congratulate and thank
Dave and Rob for
their fantastic work and contibution in getting this node running.

Zik has also put up his hand up to contribute further hardware for JLP's

development, which will enable the 5gig uplink , Thankyou !

If you feel so included to donate to the club, for the continued
equipment expenses / needs
we incure, please feel free ! Be it money or hardware, we dont mind.

Just email myself or the committee if you need further info re donations
/ long term loans,

Thankyou

Peter Buncle
Vice President
Melbourne Wireless Inc

Hey Peter,

I'm not sure what happened to GHO - our vice president Peter Buncle
manages that node. There are plans to move GHO and other backbone nodes
to the 5GHz band in the long term to avoid the excessive noise suffered
on 2.4GHz. Peter has been given approval to source new antennas from
Melbourne Wireless funds - he is very kindly donating the radio hardware
out of his own pocket. There are no immediate plans to remove the
2.4GHz links as far as I am aware. It may be that Peter has been
testing/configuring GHO in preparation for the upgrade.

Mr Buncle, the floor is yours. What news do you have regarding your
progress with the upgrade?

Are you aware of the change to the radio channel for the GHO southern
interface? Or is the radio simply configured to automatically use the
channel with the least amount of noise?

Cheers,
Tyson Clugg.

President, Melbourne Wireless Inc.

	Hi all

Can someone please update me on where the GHO South 2.4
ghz beam
	       is? My
router was linked to it on Channel 6 but seems to have
lost the
	       signal.
It is still listed as being on Channel 6 in the node
information
	       on
Melbourne Wireless but when I did a netstumbler scan just
before
	       using
	       my laptop I found it on Channel 3 (?). I still can't
connect on
	       either
channel. Can someone please let me know what channel it
is on
	       currently?
	       Has the node id changed?

	       Regards Peter
