[MLB-WIRELESS] Is Melbourne Wireless dead?

Hi Guys,
 
I would say MW is not dead, maybe on break, maybe without a strong leader, but not dead.
 
Yes there will always be those trying to setup 2 or 3 nodes for their own self serving reasons, good for them, but a Melbourne Wide CWN is definately a goal to chase, even if its only 'because we can'.
 
The problem I have (as a fairly knowledgeable person when it comes to computers of those people who I know personnally) that its TOO HARD.
 
Once we have easy to install kits, (c/o Dan), then the problem will be cost VS return as well as who will I be able to connect to.
 
We need different types of kits.
 
1) Cheap easy. Acting as an end user only, 1 radio, 1 antenna.
and
2) Multi Radio routing Nodes, for those at better locations, or who are interested in linking directly to primary nodes (backbone), and serve their local area.
 
Option 1 should be as cheap as possible, less than $200 at most.
Option 2 could be more like $500-$800 varying on specifics.
 
Those of you who know what your doing need to be aware idiots like me have no idea, (yet I'm the most knowledgeable of all my friends), and although I've been trying to get somewhere with all this, so far, its just been 1 big cost with little return, but I am approaching the point where I -might- be able to connect to a local node.
 
Lets hope there is something there, that's worth connecting to.
