What about Mount Macedon, where the cross is?
There's some nice LOS around there and it could work well as one point.

I've also got a WRT54G that's up for the challenge.

* Isotropic to Isotropic path loss at 2.45 GHz over 200 km is about 146
dB.
* 3 m dish at this frequency should give about 40 dB gain,
* Allow 2 dB feeder loss at each end
* 146 - 80 + 4 = 70 dB Path loss!
* TX power 100 mW = +20 dBm (and an EIRP of +58 dBm oooops!!!!!)
* => RX level = 20 - 70 = -50 dBm  (and we probably only need -80 dBm)

Which gives a fade margin of 30 dB (HEAPS!!!!!)

Problems:-

* Finding a 200+ km path that vaguely has 1st Fresnel zone clearance.
Earth
bulge becomes significant over these distances. Suggestions anyone?????
* Legales - EIRP +36 dBm. Although as long as we have a licensed radio
amateur at each end I think we should be OK.

I'M UP FOR IT!!!!!!!!!

Ratbaggy.
