Hi All,
Well, I'm at it again... I want to get my Node in Hopper Crossing set up.
Finally. And I want to do this in the next couple of Months.

Really all I need is a good antenna and mast, and someone with experience in
fixin said antenna and mast to a Two storey, tile roofed house. A good
ladder may be useful as well :)

If anyone can offer any suggestions on what antenna is good (budget is tight
but can be stretched a little), for, say connecting to a node up to 5 km's
away; what hardware setup's work, etc... I'd be gratefull.

My current hardware collection consist of:

Several PCMCIA Wireless Cards (Orinoco Silver), a PCI->PCMCIA Card Reader, a
linux box or two, some network cable, pigtail for the Silvers, and an old
Ex-Galaxy Antenna just begging to be mod'ed.

I still need: Mast and appropriate fixings for Tiled Roof, Cable to suit
Pigtail (I'm not sure what connectors are on the pigtail atm) and Antenna
mod kit. Possibly an electrical connection put in roof for boxen.

I had planned to put the linux box in the roof, and run some cable up to the
antenna, then network cable down to the main network, or just connect the
Apple Airport I have running.

Anything else I've missed out on? I'd really like to see an antenna raising
party some Saturday, probably late April. Any expressions of interest
welcome, I'll make sure the barby is stoked. As mentioned before, long
ladders will be gratefully borrowed. :)

Rob.
