[MLB-WIRELESS] Commercial use of MW network

Howdy,

Has anyone ever discussed the possibility that at some point, companies
might set up nodes on the MW network and start using it for commercial
purposes? How do people feel about this? I don't have a problem with
it myself, so long as everyone on the network gets fair use of the
bandwidth, and no-one starts charging for traffic that traverses their
node. Certainly Melbourne Wireless can't make any guarantees as to the
reliability of the network at this point. But for some companies that
may not matter too much.

The advantage of using the MW network from a commercial point of view is
that you only need to set up relatively cheap nodes at the end-points of
the link - you don't have to set up or rent an entire cross-town link
network yourself. And you don't have to pay ISP fees for an
Internet-traversing VPN. The advantage for Melbourne Wireless is that
we get more 24/7 nodes, some of them possibly in high-visibility sites.
So long as everyone on the network plays by the rules and respects the
ideals of this non-profit network, everybody wins. That's what I reckon
anyway. :) Your views may vary.

I just posted a similar comment in WGBackbone. Please visit and add
