What planet are you living on, I was selling 16k compressed voice over
frame 6 years ago.

You can now get away with 5-8k but most of the newer codecs (skype
included) using about 10k because bandwidth costs aren't an issue
anymore.

Decent quality VoIP (of any nature) needs 64kbps minimum before people
start to notice the difference between telephone and VoIP...

Most commercial setups are based on 64Kbps - not exactly sure of the
codec
used however... Bottom line: unless you have more than 64kbps, VoIP will
probably suck :P
