on the topic - should a box in this case be totally airtight?

what about condensation? Heat from the components?

Dick Smith have plenty. Not sure what AP you are using but I have one 
that my Dlink 900AP fits in nicely and it is still int he box. If you 
take the circuit board out it is half the size yet again. $24 for that 
box, polycarbonate variety.
