I generally do my network testing with a tool called ttcp. I'm unsure as to
whether there's a windows variant (and I see no reason why it's not
compilable under the cygwin libaries) but I've found it to be a useful tool
when troubleshooting/measuring network performance, especially those damn
duplex issues on wired Ethernet...
