In the past, it has been suggested that we start linking some nodes
via the Internet.

Because of tight download limits and charges for excess, this has
been unrealistic.
But recently, more ISPs have been giving customers free intrastate
user-user traffic.

I propose that users of ISPs that give their users a free P2P service
get together and try out some tunnelling.

At the moment Netspace, Datafast, Alphalink and Request offer this
service.

To start with, I'm after expressions of interest from users who have
access to services with those providers then I can discuss it with
the rest of the routing/addressing working group to perhaps come up
with some instructions for people and finalize an address allocation
system.

I think this would be a great way to start expanding the mesh as it
slowly forms and getting it into ditches and places where it would be
difficult to get wireless connectivity.
