Title: Catching wireless hackers in the act
Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) has reportedly launched a
research project aimed at gathering data on wireless hacking tools and
techniques. The project, Wireless Internet Security Experiment (WISE), is a
wireless version of a honeynet and monitors the actions of an unauthorized
network intruder. The fist WISE test network is thought to have been set up
in a major metropolitan area in the U.S., but no further details are known.
Wireless networks have repeatedly been found vulnerable to cyber attacks and
intrusions and represent a serious security threat to government and
corporate systems.
